Josh Fradis has always been passionate about the arts. Growing up in the Los Angeles area Josh had opportunities to experiment with many forms of art, and different mediums none of which ignited his passion like hot glass. Fradis attended California State University Chico from 1998-2003 where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Glass. At Chico State Josh was able to learn how to work with glass in many forms from hot furnace glass blowing, to lost wax, and sand casting. He also gained the knowledge to build and maintain a working hot shop, which is a twenty-four hour a day job.

For Josh the experience of designing and creating glass becomes a very personal, intellectual interpretation of his own emotions and impressions of the world around him. Working with the hot glass gives him an immediate gratification that no other medium could. “Once you gather some hot glass on a blowpipe you need to commit to that piece, work it until it is finished. There is no setting it down to think about what to do next, if you do it will break.”
